Yes, my eyes are now open. I am guilty of one thing and one thing only, and that is taking the easy path. When I first became a board member the balcony repair was being reviewed. Ms. Ingold called me into the office and told me how to vote, she said we could not afford replacing the balcony railings and she was reassured they could be repaired. Ok, this was easy enough go with what the 'expert' recommends.
1. Roof Repairs, I did refer a contractor to look at our roof. I had just recently reviewed roof bids and replaced a roof on a highrise building. I had recent experience at reviewing proposals and some knowledge about materials and procedures. At our annual board meeting Ms. Richmond spoke of being able to refer contractors she had knowledge of to us. A few days later Ms. Ingold called me into the office and told me the only reason Ms. Richmond said she had contractors she could refer was because she wanted a kick back. I said wait, I refered a contractor and I will tell you I am not getting a kick back. Her commit was, we all know how this works. ( what does that mean?) Again, no change when it came time to select a contractor, she had made the decision who she was going with and had others informed on how to vote. (it is the easy path)
2. A resident submitted a written request to be granted permission to adopt a dog which exceeds the weight limit. Ms. Ingold called me into the office a told me we were having a meeting about this request. She told me that the person making the request did not support you or me or any of us, she voted for Bogdan. Why should you support her, she did not support you. I could not believe what I was hearing. I told her how someone votes has nothing to do with the request. We all know the results, she had a meeting which was rehearsed, a motion was made to uphold our rules and not to make any exceptions going forward. Same evening when the request was discussed, well nothing could be done, after all we had just voted to uphold our dog weight limit. (OMG)
3. Our building has major deferred maintenance, dirty common areas, and life and safety issues. Ms Ingold's response when these items are brought to her attention goes something like this, well that is your opinion, I know what I am doing, we would have money if the dississants would stop calling the city, this is an old building. (any of this sound familar)
4. Please attend board meetings, voice your concerns
